Congratulations to the 35 recipients of the NGPF Scholarship to attend the 17th annual Jump$tart National Educator Conference in Aurora, Colo. Nov. 6-8!
The Jump$tart National Educator Conference (NEC) annually brings together PreK through 12th grade teachers from across the U.S. who are dedicated to financial education in the classroom. Since 2018, the Jump$tart NEC has been an all-scholarship event.
NGPF is honored to sponsor these educators who have gone above and beyond to work toward a future where all students are guaranteed a personal finance course before graduation.
For the first time this year, seven of the recipients received the special Joey Running Scholarship in honor of Joey Running, a business teacher at West Albany High School in Oregon who died in October 2025 after a short illness.
Joey poured her heart into her students, and her impact reached well beyond her own classroom. She was a relentless advocate who helped make it possible for every Oregon student to take a personal finance course, then kept a close eye on implementation to make sure the law delivered on its promise.
She was a lifelong learner who never stopped growing as an educator, an NGPF Fellow, Distinguished Educator and Ambassador who presented at conferences from Oregon to South Carolina, taught graduate courses for fellow teachers and was always willing to take a call from a new teacher who needed help. Her energy was contagious, and she made our community better every time she showed up.
This year's recipients, Jacqueline Collins, Susan Comparato, Kerri Herrild, Christopher Jackson, James Meadows, Jennifer Mitchell and Courtney Poquette, carry on Joey's spirit: amazing teachers in their own classrooms, leaders far beyond their classroom walls and tireless advocates for personal finance education in their states and across the country. We are proud to sponsor their attendance at the Jump$tart National Educator Conference in her name.
